The Eddie Howe to Celtic links have been floating around for months now without an appointment being made yet. But the feeling has always been that he will be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season.
It is believed that Howe wants to bring in a number of people from Bournemouth as part of his backroom staff at the club. And with The Cherries now out of the Championship play-offs, one has to feel that the appointment must be getting closer.
As reported by the Daily Record, Howe is ‘closing in’ on becoming the next Celtic manager. He is also believed to want Bournemouth coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone as well as technical director Richard Hughes at Parkhead.
Now, the Hoops have a big decision on their hands, especially surrounding Hughes.

Could Celtic bring in Hughes this summer?
Celtic are expected to bring in a director of football soon. Could Hughes be that man?
The club have been linked with several candidates over the months with Fergal Harkin looking like the heavy favourite to get the role at one point of time. But those rumours have certainly gone quiet recently. As a result, it feels like there could be the possibility that Hughes arrives along with Howe.
Of course, we all know how quickly things can change in football. The Howe appointment is not over the line yet and it will be important to get that done before we think about other things.
The former Bournemouth manager has a big reputation from his time in England, when he took The Cherries from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League and then kept them there for five straight seasons. That is quite an achievement for any manager.
Thus, appointing him as the club’s next manager will be seen as a major coup and a statement of intent on the part of the Hoops. One can only hope that it goes through as soon as possible.
