Celtic have been linked with a move for Eddie Howe for months now. The earliest rumours arose as early as last year when the club where struggling for form under Neil Lennon. But no change was made then and Lennon stayed on as manger.
Lennon would step down from his role in February though, in the middle of a disappointing campaign. And John Kennedy was put in interim charge of the team. The change did not bring a great change in the results though as the Hoops continued to struggle till the end of the campaign.
Now, a new manager looks set to be brought in and Howe appears to be the favourite for the job. But the saga has dragged on for longer than most fans would have liked.
It could soon be coming to an end though. As reported by the Daily Record, Howe is closing in on becoming the next manager of Celtic following Bournemouth’s elimination from the Championship playoffs.

Howe is closing in on Celtic move
It has been believed that Howe is looking to bring a number of people from Bournemouth along with him to form his backroom staff at Parkhead.
Richard Hughes has been linked with the technical director role while coaches, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone, could be on their way as well if things work out.
While this has meant that the Howe to Celtic saga has dragged on for a while, overall it should be viewed as a positive by the fans. It just goes on to show that the manager is a perfectionist, who wants to give himself the best opportunity to succeed at Parkhead.
Even if Howe arrives though, it will be important to remember that he is no magician and a lot will depend on the kind of recruitment that the Hoops make over the course of the next few months.
