It is safe to say that this summer promises to be one representing change for Celtic. A number of players are expected to leave the club and subsequently be replaced by new faces.
And this is not surprising, considering the season that the Hoops have gone through – failing to secure 10IAR and going trophyless overall. But even then, there is no way to deny that the emergence of David Turnbull as a first-team star at Parkhead has been one of the bright spots from the season.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists in 35 appearances for the Glasgow giants till now. And many would argue that he has been the club’s best player this season.
Of course, these performances are catching the eyes of clubs from all over Europe. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Aston Villa are lining up a £7 million summer move for Turnbull.

Celtic must keep hold of Turnbull
It is believed that the Hoops did not even shell out half of the £7 million that Aston Villa seem to be open to offering, in order to sign Turnbull from Motherwell last summer. And it is safe to say that he has enhanced his reputation even further since then, and is one of the most prominent young footballers in the country right now.
Turnbull has shown some incredible promise ever since getting a consistent run of games in the first-team. So much so, that whoever the next manager of the club is should considering building the team around him.
Thus, it feels very unlikely that the club will let Turnbull leave just 12 months after arriving at Parkhead even if a £7 million offer is on the table.
Of course, things can change very quickly in football and we need to be prepared for any scenario. But even then, Turnbull leaving Parkhead less than a year after signing with the club does not appear to a very likely scenario.
