There is no hiding from the fact that Celtic have endured a very disappointing campaign. Right now, the club need to bring in a new manager and make changes both on-and-off the pitch as well.

And it looks like they are already starting to make moves when it comes to the transfer market as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football.

There is possibly going to be a shortage of strikers at Parkhead soon. Top scorer Odsonne Edouard is likely to be on his way out with just a year left on his contract.  Patryk Klimala has already left for the New York Red Bulls. Mohammed Elyounoussi’s loan deal is coming to an end. And who knows what the future holds for Leigh Griffiths?

With a trophyless season behind them and potentially a new coaching team coming in, there will be a need to do better next season. Alongside a shaky defence, the inability to make the most of their chances in front of goal will be something that they need to rectify moving forward.

Celtic have reportedly had an offer for Aaron Boupendza rejected

Aaron Boupendza is a 24-year-old Gabon international playing for Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 22 goals this season. Thus, finishing as the highest scorer in the league.

As reported by Milliyet (via Daily Record), Celtic have had a transfer bid of €6.5 million knocked back but negotiations are still ongoing. It is believed that Boupendza wants to remain in Turkey though, which would make the Hoops’ transfer pursuit for him interesting.

It is certainly worth pointing out that the club have not appointed a new manager yet. But of course, negotiations could be at such a stage that they are confident to make moves in the transfer market already. And to a great extent, with the new season quickly approaching, they have to.

The size of the reported bid is also impressive and could mean that the Hoops are ready to undergo a massive overhaul in the summer.
