Celtic have been linked with a number of players in the recent past with it being clear for quite some time now that the club need a major overhaul in order to return to the top of Scottish football.

It is clear that the club needs reinforcements in a number of positions. And one of the players who has been linked with a move to Parkhead in the past is Adam Reach.

Reach had joined Sheffield Wednesday back in 2016 for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. But now, it looks like he will be available on a free transfer this summer.

His current contract with Sheffield Wednesday runs out this summer and the news that he will be released upon the expiry of his current deal was confirmed on the club’s official website.

Could Reach be a good signing for Celtic?

Reach is a very versatile player capable of playing throughout the left flank. Thus, signing him could prove to be a shrewd move on the part of the Hoops, especially since he will be a free agent this summer.

Mohamed Elyounoussi’s loan deal is set to run out at the end of this campaign and if the Hoops are unable to agree a deal to extend his stay on loan or sign him on a permanent basis, then he will be returning to Southampton. That would leave the club with very little depth there.

According to Transfermarkt, Reach has scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions this season. And at 28 years of age, he is still expected to have a lot of football left in the tank.

Are the Hoops still interested in a move for Reach? That remains to be seen. But even if they are, it will be a tough race for his signature as a number of other clubs are believed to be in the running.
