Odsonne Edouard is expected to depart Celtic in the upcoming summer transfer window, with just a year left on his current deal. And it goes without saying that the club will need to find a replacement for the Frenchman.

Edouard has been the talisman for the Hoops for quite some time now. Despite not being anywhere near his best recently, he has scored more than 20 goals through the course of this campaign. It is the third straight season that he has crossed the 20-goal mark.

As a result, they have been linked with a number of players in the past several months as potential replacements for Edouard. And one of them is Hatayspor’s Aaron Boupendza.

As reported by Milliyet, Celtic is expected to make an €8 million offer for the Gabon international, who has also been linked with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in recent times.

Boupendza could be a brilliant signing for Celtic

Boupendza has proven himself as a goalscorer this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions in 2020/21. He also finished as the top scorer in the Super Lig, which is quite an achievement.

Thus, it is not hard to see why a number of clubs, including Celtic, are believed to be interested in the player. And at 24 years of age, he could get even better moving forward.

His versatility is another thing that makes him an attractive option for clubs as he is capable of playing all across the front three although he has mostly featured as either a centre-forward or a left-winger through the course of his career. Both of them are positions that the Hoops could do with some depth in.

It remains to be seen whether the Hoops are able to get a deal for Boupendza over the line though as it is believed that his first choice is to remain in Turkey. Clubs in Russia are also believed to be interested in signing him.
