With a number of players expected to leave Celtic over the course of the summer, a number of new faces look set to arrive at Parkhead in order to replace them.

Of course, the club’s recruitment this summer will play a very important role in how the upcoming season turns out. Naturally, the club would be eager to bounce back as quickly as possible after a disappointing campaign this time around, which saw them finish without a single piece of silverware after a long time. Thus, it is important that they make the right moves in the upcoming transfer window.

One player who has emerged as a star in the Premiership in recent times is Lewis Ferguson. The Aberdeen midfielder is one of the most promising players in Scotland right now and at 21 years of age, he is only going to get better moving forward. Thus it should not be surprising that he has been linked with the Glasgow giants recently as well as a number of other clubs.

And as Aberdeen’s official website reported, Ferguson has put in a transfer request, which was rejected immediately by the club.

Would Ferguson be a good signing for Celtic?

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ferguson has scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions this season.

With Scott Brown set to leave and Ryan Christie also likely to head for the exit door in the near future, it could make sense for the Hoops to go after a player like Ferguson, who is capable of playing both in central midfield and in attacking midfield.

Is he ready to play for a club like Celtic yet? That is something only time will tell. His contract with Aberdeen is believed to run till the summer of 2024 though, which means they will not be in any hurry to part ways with the youngster. But the transfer request could open doors to a possible move away in the summer.
