This summer promises to be one of change for Celtic. The club will have to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the next few months if they are to catch up with the Rangers next season, who won the Premiership title with a gap of 25 points this season.

A number of players are expected to leave the club over the summer. Scott Brown is set to take up a player-coach role at Aberdeen and left to much fanfare. But as reported by Celts Are Here, two of the club’s loan players, Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny, have also left.

Interestingly, there are similarities between the Celtic careers of the duo. Both of them arrived with a big reputation, with Laxalt having played for AC Milan while Kenny had represented the likes of Schalke and Everton over the years.

Both of them made good starts to their time at Parkhead as well and early on, there were calls for them to be signed on a permanent basis from some fans. But they faded away over time, and by the end of the season, parting ways looked like the best available option.

Laxalt and Kenny have left Celtic as their loan spells come to an end

Full-back has been an area of concern for the Hoops for quite some time. Kenny was the only option at right-back in the second half of the campaign after both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed left during the winter transfer window.

On the other hand, the club have failed to fill the void at left-back left behind by Kieran Tierney, who moved to Arsenal in 2019. Laxalt was brought in on loan to fill this for the season at least but failed to do so.

Now, the focus of the Hoops should be on signing players who will be able to fill the voids that have been left behind in both full-back positions over time.
