Odsonne Edouard is expected to leave Celtic this summer with just a year left on his current deal. There is no denying the fact that the Frenchman has been the talisman for the Hoops at times over the past few years, having crossed the 20-goal mark for three straight seasons.

Thus, he is a player that the club will need to replace if or when he does depart Parkhead. And one player that they have been linked with in recent times is BSC Young Boys striker Jean-Pierre Nsame.

The 28-year-old has been in brilliant form in recent years for the Swiss giants. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 26 goals across all competitions this season. But he was even better last time around, when he scored a remarkable 41 goals in all competitions! Thus, it is not hard to see why the Hoops might be interested in him.

Those plans might be in question now though. As reported by Bote, he has suffered an Achilles tendon tear and will be absent for months. It is believed that such an injury can keep a top athlete out of action for about six months.

Nsame being out of action for months could mean that the Hoops have to shift their focus towards other strikers even if they were interested in signing the BSC Young Boys star in the first place.

Thus, this will surely be a blow to the club. Over the years, Nsame has shown himself to be a proven goalscorer and signing someone like him could have gone a long way in solving Celtic’s problems in front of goal in recent times. But it looks like that was not to be.

The Hoops’ search for a new striker is set to continue this summer. Edouard is expected to leave and he is someone who has scored 20 goals per season on a consistent basis for the club. Thus, they will have to sign someone who can produce a similar output.

The most important thing now though would be for Nsame to recover as soon as possible and we would like to wish him the best of luck in this process.
