It is safe to say that Celtic have not had the season that they would have been hoping for at the start of the campaign.

With 10IAR on the line, the Hoops failed to find their form throughout the course of the season, meaning that the Rangers managed to win the Premiership title comfortably with 6 games to spare and ultimately finished the season 25 points ahead of their Glasgow rivals, not having lost a single league game.

That is a great league season to be fair. But they were not nearly as impressive in the cup competitions though, and will finish the campaign with the solitary trophy.

Now, there have been Invincible claims from the Rangers supporters for a while now. But outgoing Celtic captain, Scott Brown, appeared to have a response to those claims. As reported by Metro, he said:

"‘We’ve went proper Invincible throughout the whole season. We’ve done Treble after Treble after Treble and it’s not easy.’"

Scott Brown brings up Celtic’s ‘proper’ Invincible season

Of course, Brown is referring to the club’s historic 2016/17 campaign under Brendan Rodgers when they went 47 domestic games unbeaten on their way to a Treble. That is a remarkable feat and something that probably comes around only once in a lifetime, if that. It will be an extraordinary achievement if any team can match that anytime in the near future.

Unfortunately, the last season has not been anywhere near that for the Hoops and now their focus must be on turning things around and ultimately returning to the top of the Scottish game once again, as soon as possible.

That will not be an easy task with next season looking set to be a transitional one for the Glasgow giants. A number of players are expected to leave, including Brown, who will take a player-coach role at Aberdeen. And these outgoing players will have to be replaced by new faces while a new manager looks set to be brought in as well.
