It is safe to say that the Celtic managerial saga has dragged on for quite a while and perhaps much longer than most fans of the club would have liked.
But, with just one game left to be played this season, it might not be much longer before the club end up making the appointment. And recent rumours do suggest that Eddie Howe is the heavy favourite to be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season.
The earliest rumours linking Howe with Celtic emerged as early as last year when the team where struggling for form under Neil Lennon. But ultimately, a change was not made and now, John Kennedy is serving as the interim manager of the team after Lennon stepped down in February.
Kennedy has dropped a hint about when the fans can expect the appointment to be made and given his view on the delay. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he told BBC:
"“It’s probably got to the stage now where it’s went so long that we’re probably expecting something beyond the last game.“We’ve kind of got our heads around that.“Yeah, there’s been an element of frustration from the support but it’s not done out of any sort of badness.“It’s done because they’re going through the process properly, which is my view of it.“They’re making sure that they do the right thing at the right time.”"

Celtic look set to announce new manager soon
It has dragged on for a long time now but it looks like we are on the verge of the announcement of the club’s new manager. At this point, it does feel like Howe will be the one to be handed the Parkhead job.
This is one of the most important appointments in recent history. After a disappointing campaign that saw them fail to win a single piece of silverware, the club are now facing a massive overhaul of the squad with a number of their first-team players looking set to depart this summer. Thus, come next season, it will be a new chapter for Celtic with a very different looking team on the pitch and a new manager in the dugout.
If or when the Howe deal is done, it will be seen as a major coup on the part of the club. The Englishman is one of the most highly-rated free agent managers in the world right now and bringing him to Parkhead would be a statement of intent.
