After several months of rumours and speculation, it is finally looking like the Celtic managerial search is close to reaching a conclusion and at this point of time, Eddie Howe is the heavy favourite to be in the Parkhead dugout come next season.

Now, the former Bournemouth manager is very highly rated and if the club can get the deal over the line, it will be seen as a major coup and a statement appointment on their part.

But it is important to remember that while there is no question that Howe is a great manager, he is not a magician. A number of players are expected to depart Parkhead over the next few months. As a result, a lot will depend on the kind of recruitment that the club make in the summer with regards to how next season turns out to be.

Striker is a position that looks set to need reinforcements with Patryk Klimala having already left and Odsonne Edouard likely to leave with just a year left on his contract at the end of this season. Thus, signing former Bournemouth striker, Joshua King, might not be a bad idea for the Hoops this summer.

King could be a great signing for Celtic

Before joining Bournemouth, King had never been a prolific scorer. But Howe managed to get the best out of him and the Norwegian had some great seasons at the club. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 53 goals and provided 19 assists during his time with the Cherries.

He is currently at Everton but his contract is set to run out in the summer. And after not scoring or assisting for them since joining in the winter transfer window, it feels unlikely that the Premier League giants will choose to extend his stay at the club.

Of course, this will only work if Howe is the manager of the Hoops come next season. But it is clear that the English manager knows how to get the best out of King. And the chance to work with him once again could very well lure the striker to Parkhead.
