It is safe to say that the Eddie Howe to Celtic saga has dragged on for quite a while. Perhaps longer than most fans would have liked.

But it has felt like the Hoops have been making progress on the matter for a while now. And as reported by talkSPORT, Howe has agreed a deal to be the new Celtic manager.

It goes without saying that this will be seen as a major coup on the part of the Hoops. Howe is very highly rated for what he achieved at Bournemouth over his two stints at the club. He guided them from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League in a relatively short space of time and then managed to keep them in the top flight of English football for five seasons.

Many have even touted him as a potential future England national team manager. Thus, it is safe to say that the Hoops fans should be delighted if he is the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season.

It will not be easy for Howe at Celtic

While Howe’s qualities are unquestionable, it will not be easy for him to succeed at Parkhead. The club are coming off the back of a very disappointing campaign, which will see them finish a season without a single trophy after a long time.

A number of players are expected to leave the club over the course of the next few months as well. And thus, a lot will depend on the recruitment with regards to how next season turns out to be.

Clearly, Howe will have his work cut out for him. He has never managed at a club where he was expected to win almost every game. And he is joining one in the middle of a transition period. As a result, it will be very interesting to see how he makes that adjustment.
