It is safe to say that Celtic are in need of a major overhaul in the summer as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football after a disappointing campaign that saw them fail to win a single trophy.

For that to happen, they will have to sign a number of players though, with a number of the club’s current stars expected to depart in the summer. But that will be very difficult in the current financial climate and the Hoops might very well have to depend on the transfer fees received from the departures in order to build their squad for next season. There might be an unexpected boost in that regard though.

As reported by The Telegraph (via The Sun), there appears to be uncertainty over the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. As a result, Arsenal are believed to be weighing up a move for Moussa Dembele.

Atletico Madrid have an option to buy in his loan deal but with the Frenchman yet to score for the La Liga giants, it is unlikely that they will decide to activate it. Thus, he could be available for a transfer fee of around £25 million in the summer. Odsonne Edouard could also be an option for the Premier League club.

Could Celtic receive a double cash boost?

With just a year left on his current deal at the end of this campaign, Edouard is expected to leave this summer. While Arsenal have been linked with him in the past, it does feel like Leicester City are leading the race for his signature at this point of time.

But things can change very quickly in football. And if both clubs are interested in him at the same time, it could help the Hoops get a bigger transfer fee for the French striker.

On the other hand, Celtic have a sell on clause for Dembele. Thus, him leaving Lyon would hand them a cash windfall as well.

If this happens to be the case, then it could go a long way in the rebuilding process at Parkhead over the course of the next few months as the club aim to regain the Premiership title.
