Celtic’s recent record when it comes to loan deals has not been brilliant. But in the present financial climate, it is more than likely that they will have to rely on loan moves in the summer.
The club look set to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the next few months with a number of players looking likely to leave and a number of new faces expected to replace them.
Centre-back has been an area of worry for the Hoops throughout the course of this season. And with Kristoffer Ajer entering the final year on his current deal and expected to leave in the summer, the club might need to bring in a new player to fill in the void in their heart of defence.
One man that they have been linked with in the past is Japhet Tanganga. He was rumoured to be a loan target for the Hoops back in the winter transfer window of this year but ultimately a move failed to materialise. As reported by the Daily Record, then Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho decided that the defender was going nowhere. But with the Portuguese manager now gone, Celtic should consider revisiting the move in the summer.

Celtic should make a move for Tanganga in the summer
Tanganga broke into the first-team picture at Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019/2020 season with impressive displays. As a result, he was expected to take the next step this time around and possibly become a regular starter.
Things have not gone that way for the 22-year-old though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has played just 748 minutes of football till now this season, which is less than last season.
As a result, it is possible that the defender could be available on loan in the summer. And if that is the case, the Hoops should definitely try to make it happen this time around.
There is no question about Tanganga’s talent or abilities. He is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, fearless in defending and is good in the air as well. He is also capable of playing at right-back, which is another positive. And with a point to prove, he just might be what Celtic need right now.
