The Eddie Howe to Celtic saga has dragged on for quite a while now. The rumours first emerged as early as last year. And it has been more than a month since he has emerged as the favourite for the Parkhead job.

An appointment is yet to be made though. But there has been a feeling recently that the Hoops are closing in on the former Bournemouth manager with many rumours suggesting that the appointment might not be far away.

As reported by the Daily Record, reports claiming that the deal is done are premature although Howe remains the red hot favourite to take over at Celtic. While talks are believed to be ongoing, it is understood that an announcement regarding his future is not imminent.

Thus, while the Howe move might still very well happen ultimately, it appears that the saga is going to drag on for quite some more time.

Howe is the favourite to be the next Celtic manager

There is no doubt that Howe is one of the best free agent managers in the world right now. And if the Hoops can get a deal for him over the line, it will be viewed as a major coup and a statement appointment on their part as the club aims to return to the top of Scottish football once again.

He is very highly rated for the work that he did at Bournemouth, taking them from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League. And the attacking football that his side played make him an even more attractive target for the Glasgow giants.

But the longer this saga continues to drag on, the more doubts will be raised regarding the move ultimately taking place, especially considering the fact that he has been linked with multiple Premier League clubs in the recent past as well.
