There is no denying the fact that Celtic have gone through a very disappointing season. The club had the chance to make history by securing 10IAR but they lost the title race to the Rangers with six games to spare.
On top of that, they underwhelmed in the other competitions as well and will finish the campaign without a trophy, which is very rare for the club and has not happened in a long time now. As a result, they will surely want to bounce back as soon as possible.
Appointing a new manager appears to be the first step towards that. And Eddie Howe looks like the favourite for the Parkhead job at this point of time. But that has been the case for a while now yet an appointment is yet to be made.
Davie Provan believes that it is a done deal though. As reported by the Daily Record, he said while speaking on Go Radio:
"“I don’t think for a moment Dermot Desmond would have exposed himself to the possibility of being embarrassed by Eddie Howe. And Eddie Howe himself has chosen not to rule himself out.“So reading between the lines I think there’s an agreement, I think it’s a done deal.”"

Appointing Howe would be seen as a major coup on the part of Celtic
The Eddie Howe to Celtic saga has dragged on for quite some time now. But it makes sense why the former Bournemouth manager would not want to take over at the club before the end of the season.
Firstly and perhaps most importantly, there is no silverware left to play for. Secondly, it would make sense for him to start fresh in the summer and assemble the squad in his own vision.
If the Hoops are indeed able to get the appointment over the line, it would be seen as a major coup on the part of the club without a shadow of a doubt. He is one of the most highly-rated free agent managers in world football right now.
He guided Bournemouth from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League. That is an incredible achievement for anyone. He has not managed at a club where he is expected to win every game though and it will be interesting to see how he makes that adjustment if the Hoops are indeed able to pull off the move.
