Following a disappointing campaign that will see them finish without a single piece of silverware, a number of Celtic stars are expected to leave the club over the course of the next few months.
One of the players who will be entering the final year of his current deal is Kristoffer Ajer. The Norwegian has been linked with a move away from Parkhead for a few years now and it does feel like this summer is the time when it finally happens.
He has been linked with a number of clubs from all over Europe in the past, and Newcastle United are believed to be one of the clubs who are interested in his signature. As reported by The Scottish Sun, their scouts were even present at the Glasgow Derby.
Ajer has been warned though that he might not be ready for the Premier League yet. As reported by Football Insider, former Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor said:
"“I think he’s a good player but I don’t see him in the Premier League, to be honest.“He might get found out in the Premier League. You’ve got to respect how big the Premier League is.“I’m not sure about that, I don’t think he’s ready for the Premier League yet.“He wouldn’t get the time on the ball in the Premier League. You can’t be flying forward in the Premier League like he does.”"

Ajer looks set to leave Celtic this summer
To be honest, Ajer has been one of the more consistent players in this team through the course of this campaign. Of course, he has had his ups and downs. But it is safe to say that he has been the best defender for the Hoops in a season where the backline has struggled.
Is he good enough for the Premier League? We shall only know if he does end up there.
But over the years, it has felt like Ajer has the ability to raise his game whenever he is facing stronger opposition. And it would be wrong to count out the 23-year-old if he does move to a Premier League club this summer.
When it comes to Celtic, while it will be a blow to lose a player like Ajer, with just a year left on his contract at the end of this season, it looks like the right move for the club as well as they face a massive overhaul.
