Not too many Celtic players have had a good campaign this time around. The team have underwhelmed throughout the course of the season and it should not come as a surprise that they are set to finish it without a trophy or a win over the Rangers.

One man who has been nowhere near his best this time around is Ryan Christie. Not too long ago, he was considered as one of the most important players of this team. But this season, he has failed to deliver on a consistent basis.

Combine that with the fact that his contract is believed to be running out at the end of 2021 and it looks like he won’t be at Parkhead for a lot longer. It means that he will be open to sign a pre-contract agreement in the summer and can leave the club in the middle of the 2021/22 season unless the club are able to agree a new deal with him.

It does look like there was an offer on the table for Christie in January of last year from a German club but the Hoops rejected it. A report from The Scotsman says:

"It is believed that Celtic rejected an offer for him in January last year from a German suitor that held great appeal to him."

Christie looks set to depart Celtic in the near future

There is no doubt that when at the top of his game, Christie is a very good player. In fact, he has already shown that multiple times in the past for The Hoops.

At that point of time, he was performing consistently for the Hoops as they were challenging for 9IAR. Thus, it is understandable why the club decided to reject the reported offer from the German side.

But he has not been anywhere near his best for quite some time now and if the club are not able to agree a new contract with him soon, it is expected that they would be hoping to find him a new club this summer. Otherwise, he will become a free agent at the end of the year.
