It looks like Celtic are finally closing in on a move for Eddie Howe, who has been linked with the Hoops for months now.

Recent rumours linking him with Premier League clubs had raised doubts regarding the move. But now, it looks like he is the clear favourite to be in the Parkhead dugout come next season.

Of course, if he does come, he will come with a big reputation from his time in England. He did a spectacular job taking Bournemouth from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League. But he has never managed at a club were he is expected to consistently deliver trophies and it will interesting to see how he deals with that pressure. Amidst all this, some major details have emerged regarding the possible move.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, it is expected that Howe will have a £2 million-a-year salary. He also has been promised full authority over his staff with Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone believed to be prominent in his thinking. It does appear unlikely that Richard Hughes will move to Parkhead though, with Fergal Harkin and John Kennedy believed to be in the running for the sporting director role.

Reported details about Howe’s potential Celtic deal seem promising

Now, it is worth pointing out that a deal for Howe is not over the line yet and things can change very quickly in football. But with all the recent rumours linking him with the job, it would be surprising if he is not the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season to say the least.

A lot of the details regarding the deal seem promising though and appear to suggest that the board are ready to back Howe, as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football once again.

If the deal does happen, it will be a massive coup on the part of Celtic. But it is important to remember that Howe is not a magician and a lot will depend on the recruitment over the summer as well.
