It has been quite some time since Eddie Howe has been linked with the Celtic job. The earliest rumours perhaps emerged as early as last year when the Hoops were struggling for form and in the middle of a poor run.
No change was made back then but Neil Lennon ultimately stepped down from his role in February.
Since then John Kennedy has been in interim charge of the club but a new manager is expected to be brought in at the end of the season. And Howe appears to be that man, as it looks like the highly-rated English manager is closing in on the job.
Since the last month or so, he has appeared to be the frontrunner for the role and rumours over the past couple of days suggest that the appointment is very close to getting done. And now, there appears to be an explanation behind the delay as well. A report from The Scottish Sun said:
"Celtic fans excited over the prospect of Howe being appointed have started to grow restless over the lack of news. But he has spent that time speaking to contacts in the game and doing his homework on the Hoops.Howe, 43, has been quietly planning his backroom staff, with current Bournemouth coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone prominent in his thinking. The identity of those who come in to improve the recruitment department is also vital to Howe’s plans to transform the club."

This is an exciting update regarding the Howe to Celtic saga
It is safe to say that the Howe to Celtic saga has had its fair share of twists and turns. But it looks like it will very possibly have a happy ending for the Hoops.
This also shows that Howe is determined to make the move a success and is preparing to give himself the best chance to turn things around as quickly as possible. That is not surprising though considering his reputation and many have even touted him as a possible future England national team manager.
Now, it remains to be seen when or if the appointment is made. We are not far away from the end of the season and the preparation for the upcoming campaign should begin as soon as possible, with no silverware left to play for this time around.
