Celtic might have endured a difficult season in which not many of their players have managed to shine but it looks like the club’s players still remain in high demand, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe being linked with them.

One player who is expected to leave Parkhead this summer with just a year left on his current deal at that point of time is Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman has been brilliant ever since joining the Hoops and at times has been the talisman for the club.

He has not had the best season this time around though and has appeared off the pace at times. But even then, he has managed to cross the 20-goal mark for the campaign, something that he has done in three straight seasons now.

As a result, he has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe in recent months with one of them being Liverpool.

The Celtic star is no longer a target for Liverpool

At one point of time, it was believed that the Reds could make an offer of Divock Origi plus a transfer fee for Edouard. But as reported by Anfield Central, Edouard is no longer a target for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

There appear to be two reasons for the move no longer looking like a possibility. The first is that Origi does not want a move to Scotland. The second is that Edouard is not convinced he would get enough game time at Liverpool.

Of course, that is an understandable concern on the part of Edouard, considering the options that the Premier League giants already have up top in their squad.

This does not mean that Edouard will remain at Parkhead though. There are multiple other clubs who are believed to be interested in securing his services this summer. And with just a year left on his contract, that might be best for Celtic as well.
