Celtic are expected to bring in a new manager over the course of the next few months with the aim of returning to the top of Scottish football as soon as possible. And one man who has been heavily linked with the club in recent weeks is Eddie Howe.
Howe is very highly rated for the work that he did during his time at Bournemouth, taking them from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League and then keeping them there for five straight seasons. It goes without saying that that is an incredible achievement for any manager.
Naturally, there is expected to be competition for his signature with multiple Premier League clubs being linked with him as well. But at this point of time, he appears to be the frontrunner for the Parkhead job. The saga has dragged on for quite some time now though. Weeks ago it was rumoured that he was days away from being appointed as the club’s manager but nothing has happened yet.
Gabriel Agbonlahor has made a worrying revelation regarding Celtic’s stance in the past on their managers bringing in their own coaches though. As reported by Football Insider, he said:
"“I’ve heard from different managers before at Celtic that Celtic are very strong with this.“You can bring in maybe two coaches and that’s all you get. You don’t get to change the whole system.“Celtic are very strong in not giving managers too much power. ‘Bring in a couple of coaches, we’ll sort out the director of football, we’ll sort out everything else.’“I reckon Celtic are being stubborn on that. Eddie Howe is probably thinking ‘I want to change a lot of things. I want my director of football, I want somebody to help me with transfers.’ They’ve probably said ‘No’ and that’s all it is.“Eddie Howe’s probably thinking, with the job Celtic have got on their hands with Scott Brown leaving, Edouard probably leaving, ‘How much money am I going to be promised?’ There’s no point in signing a contract with Celtic, jumping the gun and being told you’ve got £15million in the kitty.“He’s probably thinking I need a lot more than that to catch up with Rangers.“There’s no rush to go there at the moment. We’ve got the Euros coming up, the season finishing. I’m sure Eddie Howe is not in a super rush to get back managing.”"

Could this impact Howe’s potential move to Celtic?
It is believed that Howe would like to bring in his own coaching staff along with him if he takes over at Parkhead. Rumours also suggest that he would like to have Richard Hughes, the current Bournemouth technical director, at the club as well.
Thus, it is not hard to see why the club’s stance in the past could have an impact on the potential move. Of course, it is very possible that they could have changed their stance since then.
At the end of the day, any top manager coming in would most probably want to bring in his own coaching staff with him. In fact, that should be seen as an encouraging sign by the fans.
