Celtic are expected to bring in a new manager over the course of the next few months as the club aim to return to the top of Scottish football once again after a disappointing campaign that will see them finish without a trophy.

At this point of time, John Kennedy is serving as the interim manager of the Hoops after Neil Lennon stepped down from his role in February. And while it was believed that Kennedy might have been handed the job on a permanent basis if he could guide the team to a strong finish to the season, that has not happened.

Eddie Howe appears to be the favourite to be the next manager of the club right now although doubts have been raised regarding the move after the saga has dragged on for weeks. The former Bournemouth manager has also been linked with other Premier League clubs recently.

It has been believed that Howe wants Richard Hughes, the Bournemouth technical director, to join him at Parkhead. But Alan Nixon has claimed that Hughes is not central to the move. The journalist tweeted out:

This could be a boost in Celtic’s pursuit of Howe

It is only natural that a manager as highly rated as Howe would want to bring in his own team along with him. In fact, that should be encouraging for a Celtic fan.

But the big question is, can the club get these coaches? If not, then that could throw the move into serious doubt. The fact that Hughes does not appear to be central to the deal could serve as a boost though.

Any move for Hughes could have proved to be difficult for the Hoops as it is believed that Fergal Harkin is the frontrunner for the Director of Football role and has been linked with the club for months.

Over the last few weeks, not much new had emerged regarding the Howe move. But in the last couple of days, there have been a few positive updates on the situation.
