With 10IAR on the line, Celtic had the chance to create history this season. But ultimately, it turned out to be a disappointing campaign for the club. They lost the Premiership title race to the Rangers with six games to spare. They ended up underwhelming in every other competition as well, and will finish the season without a trophy.

Naturally, the club would be eager to bounce back as soon as possible and return to challenging for titles on a consistent basis once again. For that to happen, changes need to made though, and quickly.

The biggest and perhaps most important of those changes would be bringing in a new manager to the club. And Roy Keane is someone who has been linked with the role a lot in recent times.

Most of the fans have not appeared to be too keen on the idea but he has gotten a lot of backing from many in the football world. The latest of those is Paul Jewell. While speaking with Football FanCast, the former Wigan Athletic manager said:

"“From what I’ve seen of him, yeah, why not give him a chance? I think he would probably rather be on the training pitch than sitting in a studio, even though he will know which one is easier.”"

Could Keane be the man for the Celtic job?

There is no doubt that Keane was a fantastic player during his time but he did not match that success as a manager.

He has only managed two clubs till now – Sunderland and Ipswich Town, and both of those came over a decade ago. Since then, he has served as assistant manager to the Republic of Ireland national team, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

Now it is very possible that he could have improved drastically as a manager since his first couple of stints. But even then, it would be a massive risk on the part of Celtic to appoint him, especially considering the magnitude of the summer rebuild that the club are facing ahead of them.
