Leigh Griffiths showed what he is capable of with an injury time equaliser against Aberdeen to rescue a point for Celtic.
He has had a season to forget though. While he gets important goals, there are seemingly always question marks about his attitude and fitness.
But with Patryk Klimala already gone, Odsonne Edouard expected to leave in the summer and Albian Ajeti struggling for form, could Griffiths still have a future at Parkhead despite being linked with a move away himself, in recent weeks?
John Kennedy, as reported by the Daily Record, talked Griffiths up after the Aberdeen game though and reckoned the player could still make the Euros with the Scotland national team and has put himself in contention:
"“He has put himself in contention to start games – he’s goal hungry as always.“Leigh is training well.“Can he make the Euros squad? It comes down to form and how Steve sees it.“He has a few strikers to choose from now but he has just has to put himself in contention.”"
There is a bit more competition for that Scotland striker role with both Lyndon Dykes and Che Adams now taking their chances. Ollie McBurnie perhaps leaves a gap by not having impressed and also picked up an injury recently which could rule him out. As a result, there might yet be hope for Griffiths.

Kennedy commented on the Celtic star’s fitness issue as well
Griffiths has had his fair share of fitness issues this season and that could go against him when it comes to making Clarke’s squad. Kennedy spoke on the fitness point too. As reported by the Daily Record, the interim manager said:
"“He had the issue when we came back for pre-season and his fitness wasn’t what it should have been.“That took a bit of time for him to get going but I have had no issues with Leigh in terms of how he works.“We don’t always play with two strikers, so that doesn’t always help him.“But Leigh is what he is. He is a great individual for us and when we need a goal, he gets you it.”"
Kennedy reckons Griffiths is fit now, but with most of the season gone, the league and cups lost, it is a little too late. He probably only got his chance to be a hero at Aberdeen because Odsonne Edouard does not look anywhere near his best at the moment.
Questions need to be asked about Griffiths’ role at the club moving forward though with his contract quickly running down. Will he be here next season or won’t he? And if he is here, can he be counted upon to score goals on a consistent basis?
