The last two days have been quite interesting to say the least with all the talk surrounding the European Super League and its ultimate suspension after a number of clubs decided to withdraw from the competition. Amidst all this, there have been rumours about another possible new league though, one that could have implications on the future of Celtic.
That is the latest talk surrounding the possibility of a British Super League and the likes of Celtic and the Rangers being invited to the competition.
Of course, something like this is not going to be popular with everyone. Especially those who are playing in the lower divisions of English football, trying to make it to the Premier League. Naturally, they would not want to see the Glasgow giants walk into the top flight.
Bournemouth manager Jonathan Woodgate did not appear to be too happy with the prospect and is not even sure whether the Glasgow duo could beat his side. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he told talkSPORT:
"“I don’t know that they can go straight in. How can they go straight in and leave the Championship out, when you’ve got all of us striving to get there?“It wouldn’t be fair at all, and if it does they would have to start in the Championship and climb up.“We’re Bournemouth and would Celtic and Rangers beat us? I’m not so sure.”"

Could Celtic be headed for the British Super League?
At this point of time, it would be too early to make any predictions. But it is not hard to see why someone like Woodgate, who is managing a Championship club, would not be delighted by the idea.
It is a different discussion when it comes to which team would come out on top in a game though. And if the Hoops did end up in something similar to a British Super League, it would not be hard to see them competing near the top of the table considering the financial boost that the club would get as a result of it.
But such a move could prove to be disastrous for Scottish football as it would see two of its biggest sides depart. And it remains to be seen whether something like this could actually happen in the future.
