It was another Glasgow Derby to forget for Celtic fans as the team came up short once again despite having the lion’s share of the possession and chances.

While the Hoops conceded a couple of simple goals at their end, they could not take their chances at the other, including a penalty from Odsonne Edouard. Thus, it should not be a surprise that Steven Gerrard’s side came out the victors from the game.

The defeat also means that the Hoops will go trophyless this season. That is quite a turn from winning one trophy after the other for the past decade or so. After all, this is the same team that completed a Quadruple Treble not too long ago. But that’s how quickly things can change in football.

Celtic need to turn things around next season

There is no hiding from the fact that this has been a very disappointing season on the part of the Hoops and the club will need to do everything they can to turn things around and return to challenging for titles as soon as possible.

A number of players are being linked with moves away from Parkhead including the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Kristoffer Ajer. And with just a year left on their contracts at the end of this campaign, it might very well be time to part ways.

The Hoops must make sure that they are properly replaced though. Identifying and signing players who are capable of doing that will be very important going forward. There also appears to be the need of bringing in a new manager at the end of this season and make a fresh start.

It will be tough to turn this around by next season but not impossible.
