After a disappointing season that saw them lose the Premiership title race to the Rangers and underperform in other tournaments as well, a number of changes are expected to take place at Celtic over the course of the next few months.

Many players are being linked with Parkhead exits and it looks like one of them could be completed soon in the form of Patryk Klimala.

The Polish striker arrived in January of 2020 from Jagiellonia Bialystok for a transfer fee believed to be around £3.5 million. And it is safe to say that things have not quite worked out for the player at Parkhead. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided a solitary assist in 28 appearances during his time with the Hoops.

Over the past couple of days, it has been rumoured that he could be close to sealing a Parkhead exit by joining MLS giants New York Red Bulls in a permanent move and it looks like the deal could be done over the next few days. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, John Kennedy told Sky Sports:

"“Patryk’s currently close to finalising a deal to go there. It’s an opportunity that came up for him, and for both parties it was a good deal.“I had a good relationship with Patryk, I spent a lot of time with him. He’s a very hard-working boy. I wish him all the best when that gets finalised. I imagine something will come out in the next few days finalising that deal.”"

Did Klimala deserve more chances at Celtic?

It was not too long ago that Klimala was being praised heavily for the effort he was putting in. The striker had put on muscle at the start of this season and it was looking like he could play a part in the first-team through the course of the campaign.

Unfortunately, things did not turn out that way for the Polish under-21 international. And at this point of time, you have to feel that a transfer suits all parties involved.

You have to question though whether he deserved more chances to shine at Parkhead? After all, his record at the club of having a goal contribution every 170 minutes of football is not terrible.

Could he have been a regular part of the first-team if given the right amount of opportunities? Who knows? It does look like the Hoops will have a very different looking attack next season though with Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths also being linked with moves away.
