Eddie Howe has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic for quite some time now. And the potential move has had its fair share of twists and turns already.
It was not too long ago that it had looked like the manager was destined to arrive at Parkhead and it was only a matter of time before the appointment was made. Things appear to have changed since then though.
A couple of weeks earlier, there were rumours that he could be appointed within the space of a week. That week has come and gone though and we still remain exactly where we were back then. Naturally, doubts have emerged amongst the fans about the move ultimately taking place.
Journalist Stephen McGowan appears to be relaxed about the situation though. Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said:
"“The two sides seem more relaxed about it than the fans are. He met Dermot Desmond two weeks ago in London, there was an expectation things might move quickly because he’s out of work but that hasn’t happened, but there might be reasons for that.“He’ll want fairly precise details on how much money he has to spend, because of all these players potentially going out the door. How much does he have to sign 10 or 11 players?“I think a non-negotiable point seems to be Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes coming along as well. I don’t know he’s going to be director of football or technical director, I think he’s going to head up the player scouting operation, maybe a replacement for Nicky Hammond.“Eddie Howe wouldn’t be appointing his own boss, he just wants someone he can trust by his side. I don’t know he’s keen on the idea of Celtic bringing in a director of football he doesn’t know in Fergal Harkin to work above his head.”"

Howe to Celtic appears to be still very much on the table
It is undeniable that Howe is a man in demand at the moment. He had an incredible time at Bournemouth, a side he took from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League and kept them there for five years.
That is an incredible achievement and it is no surprise that he is very highly rated in England as a manager and has even been touted as a potential future England national team manager. Thus, it is natural that there has been interest in him from clubs in the Premier League with names like Crystal Palace and Newcastle United being rumoured as potential destinations.
McGowan’s stance on the matter provides a lot of hope though that the move could happen after all, if certain conditions are met.
And to be honest, it is a good sign to see a manager wanting things to be perfect before taking on the job. It shows that he is coming in with the intention of succeeding.
