Celtic are expected to make a number of changes over the course of the next few months as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football as soon as possible.

Their forward line is likely to look very different next season with the futures of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths uncertain. And another striker in the form of Patryk Klimala could be set for a Parkhead exit as well.

As reported by Daily Record, Celtic could even recoup the transfer fee they shelled out to sign Klimala from Jagiellonia Bialystok last year. New York Red Bulls have reportedly lodged a ‘lucrative bid’ for a permanent transfer.

His current contract is believed to run till the summer of 2024, but he appears to be on the verge of joining New York Red Bulls. If that does happen, he would not be the first to make the switch though as Cameron Harper joined the MLS club in March of this year.

Klimala has not had a great time at Celtic

After coming to Celtic in January of 2020, his time at Parkhead hasn’t been very fruitful. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Klimala has made 28 appearances for the club, recording just three goals and an assist to his name in that time.

As a result, if he does want to seal a Parkhead exit, it would not be very difficult to understand why. But if Griffiths and Edouard do depart in the summer, there might be an opportunity for him to make his mark next season. After all, it was not too long ago when at the start of this campaign, he was being praised for the physical transformation he had made since joining the club.

On the other hand, the move does make a lot of sense for the club as well as the player. While it will give Klimala the chance for a fresh start, it might also see the Hoops recoup the transfer fee they shelled out for him, which will go a long way in their summer rebuild.
