It is safe to say that Celtic have not been at the top of their game this season as they lost the Premiership title race to the Rangers with six games to spare. As a result, changes are expected at the club as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football once again.

One of these changes could involve Odsonne Edouard leaving the club at the end of the current season. His contract expires in the summer of 2022, meaning he will have only one year left on his deal at the end of this campaign. As a result, the Hoops might have to let him leave rather than lose him for free a year later and a Parkhead exit looks very likely.

Two of the clubs who appear to be competing for the Frenchman’s signature are Arsenal and Leicester City.

As reported by The Telegraph (via Leicester Mercury), The Gunners have not given up hope on signing the striker although Leicester City remain the favourites for Edouard.

Edouard seems to be nearing a Celtic exit

Ever since joining the club, Edouard has probably been Celtic’s best player. He has hit the 20-goal mark for the club for three straight seasons now. Combine that with his incredible displays for the France under 21 side, and it is not hard to see why some of the biggest clubs in Europe are interested in signing him.

It was not too long ago that the striker was rated at over £30 million. But with just a year left on his contract at the end of this campaign, the Hoops might have to let him leave for a transfer fee much lower than that this summer.

The most important thing would be to find a suitable replacement for a player who has been the club’s talisman at times. And it is safe to say that that will not be an easy task.
