With 10IAR on the line, it is safe to say that this season has been a disappointment for Celtic, who failed to take their chance to make history and instead ended up losing the Premiership title race with six games to spare against The Rangers.

Clearly, there is the need to turn things around as quickly as possible and challenge for the title once again next season. This won’t be an easy task though considering the massive overhaul that appears to be on the horizon at Parkhead.

Of course, one of the biggest changes could involve the appointment of a new manager. After Neil Lennon stepped down in February, John Kennedy has been in interim charge of the team but a new manager is expected to be brought in soon.

Not too long ago, it was believed that Eddie Howe would turn out to be that man. But since then, doubts have emerged regarding the possibility of the move. And Frank McAvennie is not too sure he would want the manager at Parkhead if his heart is not in it. As reported by Four Four Two, while speaking at an event at Hampden Park to promote the coverage of the upcoming Scottish Cup tie between Celtic and the Rangers exclusively live on Premier Sports, he said:

"“If it is true that he is going to speak to Crystal Palace and Newcastle then I would say no.“I don’t know if I want him because his heart is not in coming up here then.“I played in England a long time and people don’t realise down south how big a club Celtic are, and Rangers for that matter.“They are huge clubs and they won’t know until they get up here and walk through the door and realise how big they are.“He is a good manager and of course people will be interested in him.“But I just hope Celtic have not put all their eggs in one basket and relied on Eddie Howe because there are a lot of good managers out there.“You can’t wait until June for Eddie Howe to say no. Celtic is too big a club for that, they shouldn’t wait for anyone in that respect.”"

Could a move to Celtic still be on the cards for Howe?

After a few days of constant news and updates, not much new has emerged regarding the potential move to Parkhead for Howe.

It does look like though that he is going to wait till the summer before taking on any new job. And perhaps that is only natural considering the fact that we are near the end of the season and the Hoops do not have much left to play for except for the Scottish Cup.

At this point of time, Howe remains the favourite for the role but doubts will continue to grow, the longer no appointment is made. And names of other managers have started to do the rounds as possible alternative targets.
