AC Milan readying offer for in-demand Celtic player

A number of Celtic players are expected to leave the club at the end of the season. And the club will be expected to replace these outgoing players with new faces as the Hoops face a massive summer overhaul.

One player who will be incredibly difficult to replace though is Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman has perhaps been the club’s best player ever since joining them.

He has hit the 20-goal mark in three straight seasons and is going to be a man in demand if he does end up leaving this summer, which is looking likely as he will only have a year left on his contract at the end of this season.

AC Milan are one of the clubs who are being linked with a move for the striker. And it looks like they could be preparing an interesting player plus transfer fee offer for Edouard, with Diego Laxalt being a part of the deal. The Scottish Sun report:

"Reports in Italy quoted Milan sources as saying a deal including Laxalt and ‘an economic adjustment in favour of Celtic’ was being readied to lure Edouard.But Milan value the 28-year-old Uruguayan left-back, who moved to Celtic Park on loan in October, at around £8m.That would vastly reduce the fee the Serie A outfit would offer.And with Greg Taylor starting ahead of Laxalt, it’s unlikely the Hoops would be willing to write off that much in any deal."

It looks unlikely that Celtic will accept such an offer

Laxalt has had an up and down campaign at Parkhead ever since joining on a season-long loan. There have been games when he has been brilliant and looked like one of the best players at the club. On other occasions, he has failed to match those standards. And at this point of time, he might very well be competing for a first-team spot with Greg Taylor.,

Thus, it is unlikely that the Hoops would be willing to write off £8 million from any potential Edouard deal for Laxalt.

There should not be a lack of offers coming their way though as AC Milan are not the only club who are being linked with Edouard as names like Leicester City and Arsenal have also been reported as being interested in the Frenchman’s signature. Now, it remains to be seen what will happen in the summer.
