After a long time, Celtic managed to register a big win as they came out with a 6-0 victory against Livingston. Mohamed Elyounoussi scored a brace, James Forrest, Ryan Christie and David Turnbull scored one each and the other one was an own goal from Jack Fitzwater.

There is no hiding from the fact that the Hoops have had a disappointing season which saw them lose the Premiership title race to the Rangers with six games to spare. But this performance will be a cause for encouragement moving forward.

There is still the Scottish Cup to play for, where the club will have the chance to make more history if they can win the competition for the fifth straight time.

The team have certainly improved since their return from the international break and Livingston manager David Martindale believes the the Celtic players are playing for John Kennedy. As reported by Herald Scotland, he said:

"“If I am honest, it looked like a team who were playing for the manager. If John has any chance of the job that will have done him the world of good. I think you can see the players were playing for John and they were enjoying it.”"

Could Kennedy become Celtic manager on a permanent basis?

At this point of time, it does feel like the Hoops will appoint a new manager over the course of the next few months unless Kennedy is able to turn things around drastically.

Even then, it would be too much of a risk to hand someone like Kennedy the permanent role, because he had never managed a club before taking over from Neil Lennon in an interim role in late February of this year. Recent rumours do suggest that he could continue at the club as part of the coaching staff, whoever the next manager is.

The club have been linked with names like Eddie Howe, Enzo Maresca, Roy Keane, Lucian Favre and many others in recent months, and it will be surprising if they do not bring in someone with experience to steady the ship and guide them back to the top of Scottish football.
