There is no denying the fact that Celtic have endured a very disappointing season. With 10IAR on the line, they ended up losing the Premiership title race to the Rangers with six games to spare. As a result, they will be looking to bounce back as soon as possible and return to the top of Scottish football.
For that to happen, changes need to be made. And one of the biggest decisions that the club need to make is regarding a new manager.
After months of rumours and speculation, it had looked like the Hoops had got their man in the form of Eddie Howe after it appeared like a move was very close but that has been thrown into doubt over the past couple of days.
Charlie Austin, who played under Howe at Burnley, believes that any announcement will most likely be made at the end of the season anyway. As reported by the Daily Record, he told The Go Radio Football Show:
"“Maybe because he wants to get the season over and done and start afresh so it’s not John Kennedy’s team, it is not Neil Lennon’s team and it is not the old guard.“Celtic would have had their ideas what they’re going to do in the summer.“Eddie will have his plans already in place in what he’s going to do during the summer.”“If he’s to come in and be the head coach for Celtic as soon as the seasons finished, then they start afresh and the real rebuild from day one after the season’s finished. So it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what’s going on.”"
He also believes that the club have got it ‘sorted’:
"“I think they’ve got it sorted. They’re not going to come out and say Eddie Howe is gonna be the manager or they’ve got someone else lined up ASAP.“It wouldn’t surprise me that the day after the season or two days after they announced the manager. It really wouldn’t.”"

Howe to Celtic might still be on the table
It is safe to say that the Howe to Celtic saga has already had its fair share of twists and turns. And it has been suggested that the manager might not be looking to return to manager before the summer.
But when you think about it, it is only natural that he would want to start on a fresh note and not take over a side near the end of the season, when there is not much left to play for. Thus, it would be wrong to think that the move to Parkhead might be off the table because no announcement has been made yet.
Despite the recent rumours, he remains the frontrunner for the Parkhead job as of now. Although, the Hoops must be prepared for the worst case scenario and have alternatives picked out in case the move fails to materialise.
