There have already been quite a few twists and turns in Celtic’s quest to find a new manager. But over the past week or so, it had looked like the Hoops had finally found their man in the form of Eddie Howe.
The former Bournemouth manager had done a spectacular job during his time with The Cherries, managing to guide them from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League and keeping them there for five straight seasons. Quite an achievement for anybody.
As a result, appointing him would have been seen as a major coup on the part of the Hoops and it had looked like they were closing in on a move, with many rumours even suggesting that the official announcement could be made next week. Things have changed drastically since then though.
It has emerged that any talks of a deal being close are premature and Howe plans to remain out of management till the summer at least. And now, there is another update regarding the matter. As reported by Football Insider, Crystal Palace have sounded him out about becoming their new manager.

Could Celtic miss out on Howe?
Howe has a big reputation in England and has even been touted as a future manager of the national team. As a result, it is only natural that there would be interest in him from Premier League sides.
Now, this does not mean that a move to Parkhead is completely off the table. While it has been suggested that he won’t return to management until the summer, that does not mean that he is not interested in joining Celtic.
On the contrary, it is only natural that he would not want to take over near the end of the season and could be looking for a fresh start in the summer. As a result, it might be a bit too early to give up on the Howe hopes but the club must be prepared for the worst case scenario.
