It is nothing new that managers are often most comfortable working with players who they have known for years. As a result, it would not be surprising if Eddie Howe decides to bring some of his former Bournemouth players to Celtic, in case he is appointed the manager of the club.

One position that the Hoops might need to improve in over the course of the summer is at striker. The club have struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis throughout the campaign. And with Odsonne Edouard also expected to leave at the end of this season, a new striker might be on the top of their summer wishlist.

Joshua King might prove to be that man. Currently at Everton, his contract is set to run out at the end of the season. And after having failed to score for them since arriving at the club, it is likely that he will be allowed to leave.

In that case, there is the opportunity for the Hoops to make a move for the Norwegian forward who has played extensively under Howe over the years. And while speaking with Football Insider, Noel Whelan tipped the manager to bring King to Parkhead:

"“We know Josh King’s available.“Everton aren’t taking that on. He would be fantastic for the Scottish game and Celtic. Maybe he’ll delve into the market for that one, he knows what’s happening in the summertime. The two of them know each other very well.“It wouldn’t surprise me if he delves into the market and takes people that he knows and trusts.“That’s what managers generally do, using their own contacts and the relationships they have with players. That would only be a positive for Celtic.”"

Would King be a good signing for Celtic?

King generally operates as a secondary striker but is also capable of playing as the centre-forward and on the wings. Thus, his versatility could prove to be an asset for any club that signs him.

Yes, he has been out of form this season but at 29 years of age, he is expected to have years of top level football left in him. Thus, if Celtic are able to sign him on a free transfer, it could prove to be a shrewd move on their part.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, King scored 53 goals and provided 19 assists in 184 appearances for Bournemouth. And while never the most prolific goalscorer, he can be a fantastic secondary striker for the Hoops.
