Rumours over the past several days have suggested that Celtic are closing in on appointing Eddie Howe as the next manager of the club. It was even believed that his arrival could be announced within the next 24 hours but that might not be the case after all.
While Howe is believed to have verbally agreed in principle to taking over at Parkhead, he wants certain assurances and the opportunity to bring Richard Hughes to Parkhead with him. As reported by The Scottish Sun, this has complicated the talks.
The Hoops are currently believed to be looking for a Director of Football. On the other hand, Hughes is the technical director at Bournemouth.
The club appear to be open to the idea of bringing Hughes on board but this could mean them having to change their current plans, with names like Fergal Harkin being linked extensively with the role in recent months.

Celtic still confident of appointing Howe as the new manager
There do not appear to be fears of the move falling through though as it looks like the club are still confident that a deal can be reached with Howe.
There is the possibility though that Howe could ultimately start at Parkhead in June, if the move takes place, which means John Kennedy might remain in interim charge of the club for the rest of the current season.
At this point of time though, the fans will be hoping that the club can get the deal for Howe over the line as soon as possible and would not want to see things get dragged out.
If he is appointed, he will come to Parkhead with a big reputation, having managed to guide Bournemouth from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League over his two stints as manager of The Cherries. And the Hoops will be hoping that he is the man to take them back to the top of Scottish football.
