It looks like Eddie Howe is close to becoming the next Celtic manager. And it is safe to say that the majority of the club’s fans will be delighted if the appointment takes place.

Howe will come with a big reputation from his successful time in England. Over two stints at Bournemouth, he managed to take them from the relegation zone of the League Two to the Premier League and then kept them there for five straight seasons. That is an incredible feat for any manager and appointing him would be considered as a major coup.

While a number of names like Rafa Benitez, Frank Lampard, Chris Wilder, Roy Keane and others, have been linked with the Parkhead job in recent months, Howe has emerged as the heavy favourite over the past few days.

And it looks like the former Bournemouth manager has three demands, as he looks set to take the Celtic job. The Sun report:

"It’s believed he has insisted on full authority on backroom appointments and a sizeable war chest to revamp an ailing squad. It’s also Howe’s desire for close pal and current Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes to join him in Paradise."

Is Howe the right man for Celtic?

It is safe to say that Howe is a fantastic manager. He has already proven that during his time at Bournemouth. But is he the right man for the Hoops? That is the big question.

Stylistically, he definitely is. His sides are used to playing exciting and attacking football, something that a manager is always expected to produce at Parkhead.

But it is also true that he has never managed at a club like Celtic, where there is the pressure to win almost every game and finishing second in the league is considered to be disappointing. Can he adjust to that kind of pressure? Only time will tell because that is something which cannot be predicted.

One thing is for sure though. After months of speculation and rumours, it is once again an exciting time for fans of the club.
