There has been a lot of good news surrounding Celtic over the last few days, as it looks like the club could be close to appointing Eddie Howe as their new manager.

Over the past several months, a number of managers have been linked with the Parkhead job but it is safe to say that Howe was one of the most interesting names on that list. And if the club can get a deal done for him, the majority of the fans would be delighted.

Howe forged a great reputation for himself during his time in England, when he took Bournemouth from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League and kept them there for five straight seasons. Thus, there is no doubt that he is a fantastic manager.

The recent rumours surrounding the possibility of his appointment have been very positive and it does look like a move could be done soon. But as we know, things can change very quickly in football. Gordon Strachan fears that a move could still collapse and as a result, the club should not put all their eggs in one basket. As reported by Daily Record, he said on Premier Sports:

"“I like what he did with his team over the last three or four years, the team understood how to move into different positions, play different systems, the emphasis being on being able to pass the ball and be intelligent with it.“But I’d like to think Celtic will not be putting all their eggs in the one basket.“That would be very silly, I’m sure they’re speaking to other people out there because if conversations go on over two or three weeks it could change.“Positions can change, everything could change.“There could be other clubs involved. So I like to think, and they are clever enough, that the board will be looking at other options, and there are other good options out there as well.”"

Could the Howe to Celtic move still collapse?

As we all know, things change very quickly in the world of football. Thus, until an official announcement is made, nothing can be considered as done.

But judging from the rumours that have made the rounds over the past few days regarding the possible move, it would be surprising if Howe is not in the Parkhead dugout in the near future.

The bigger question right now is – is he the right man for the job?

Stylistically, he brings everything that the club could ask for. But it remains to be seen how he adjusts to a club where he is expected to win week in, week out.
