After a disappointing campaign that saw them lose the Premiership title race to the Rangers with 6 games to spare, changes were always expected to be made at Celtic. And it does look like the club are set to undergo an overhaul over the next few months.

Peter Lawwell will be retiring after 17 years at the club and will be replaced by the incoming Dominic McKay. Long-time captain Scott Brown is set to leave for Aberdeen in a player-coach role. A new manager is expected to come in. And Nick Hammond has resigned from his position as Head of Football Operations.

Coming to the matter of a new manager. Rumours surrounding Eddie Howe have continued to gain momentum over the past couple of days. Now, it looks like he is the heavy favourite to get the Parkhead job.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Mark Burchill, a former Celtic striker and currently a Bournemouth scout, is in line for a scouting role after Hammond’s resignation.

Celtic need to improve their recruitment

Recruitment has been a worry for the Hoops in recent times. You just need to take a look at the club’s signings in the past summer transfer window.

David Turnbull is the only one who could be considered as a hit out of the five new faces who arrived at Parkhead at the start of the season. Diego Laxalt has also had a decent campaign.

Other than that, the rest have failed to make their mark at the club. Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti arrived for around a combined £9.5 million, but neither are near the first-team picture at the moment. And the season-long loan move for Shane Duffy has turned out to be a failure as well.

Thus, moving forward, this is certainly an area where the Hoops need to improve if they are to return to the top of Scottish football in the near future.
