After months of speculation and rumours, it looks like Celtic are finally closing in on appointing Eddie Howe as their new manager. And it is safe to say that the majority of the fans would be delighted if the appointment does indeed take place.
The former Bournemouth man did a spectacular job during his time in England, taking The Cherries from the relegation zone of League Two to the heights of the Premier League in a short span of time. Thus, he will come with a lot of promise and a big reputation.
Could he also shake up some of the club’s plans? As reported by the Daily Mail, Howe wants Bournemouth technical director, Richard Hughes, to join him at Celtic as technical director and oversee a restructuring of the football operations.
In that case, you have to question – what happens to the Hoops’ long-time chase for Fergal Harkin if they end up bringing Hughes to Parkhead?

Could both Harkin and Hughes arrive at Celtic?
Is it possible that both Hughes and Harkin could arrive at the same time?
It is not uncommon for a club to have a football director and a technical director at the same time. It was not too long ago that Manchester United appointed John Murtough and Darren Fletcher to the respective roles.
Could The Hoops do the same? Only time will tell.
It is worth noting though that Nick Hammond stepped down from his position of Head of Football Operations earlier this week. Could that be the position that someone like Hughes takes up if the club are able to sign him?
It is all speculation at this point of time though, and the first thing for the Hoops to do would be to get a deal for Howe over the line. The rest of the pieces of the puzzle will hopefully fall into place by themselves after that.
