While the deal is not over the line yet, rumours over the past couple of days do suggest that Eddie Howe is now the heavy favourite to be handed the Celtic managerial job.
After a disappointing campaign that saw them lose the Premiership title race to the Rangers with 6 games to spare despite 10IAR being on the line, the Hoops were expected to make some big moves in the summer with the aim of returning to the top of the Scottish game as soon as possible.
The first of those moves could be appointing Howe as the new manager of the club. After the job that he did at Bournemouth over the course of his two stints there, he will come with a big reputation.
There is a bit of a surprising update regarding this matter though. As reported by the Daily Mail, Howe appears to be prepared to stick with Celtic’s current first-team coaches, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan. Although, he does want the club to bring in Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes and oversee a restructuring of the football operations.

The Celtic duo could remain even if Howe comes in
It was widely expected that any new manager would come with his own team of coaches. After all, one of the biggest debates surrounding Neil Lennon’s second stint as the manager of the Hoops was regarding him not coming in with his own coaching staff. But now, it looks like the same could happen with Howe as well.
All of this is mere speculation at this point of time though. A deal with Howe has not been done yet. And the club need to get that over the line first before we start thinking about his coaching staff.
A lot of positive rumours have surfaced over the past couple of days regarding the possible move to the Hoops for Howe. As a result, it should not be a surprise to see him in the Parkhead dugout in the near future.
