Not a lot of Celtic players have had a good campaign this time around, with the club struggling massively throughout the season and losing the Premiership title race to the Rangers with six games to spare.

But even then, Patryk Klimala is someone who has probably struggled more than most. The Polish striker was brought to Parkhead from Jagiellonia Bialystok back in January of 2020 in a £3.5 million move but has failed to settle in since then.

According to Transfermarkt, in 24 appearances in all competitions this season, Klimala has managed to score only 3 goals and has not had an assist. Clearly, it has not worked out for him.

Now, as reported by The Scottish Sun, the striker is a target for MLS giants New York Red Bulls and they could be eyeing a potential loan move for him.

It is easy to forget that there was a lot of optimism surrounding Klimala at the start of the season. He had put on some muscle and started the campaign in good form, showing a hunger to succeed.

Opportunities dried up soon though and it was not long before he was out of the first-team picture. And despite the Hoops’ struggles to find the back of the net on a consistent basis this season, he has failed to get too many minutes on the pitch.

Thus, it would not be the worst idea in the world to send him out on loan to a club where he could play regular football and hopefully rediscover some form and confidence. With his contract running out in the summer of 2024, the Hoops should not be in any hurry to let him leave on a permanent basis.

If the move does end up happening, he would not be the first player to make the switch from Celtic to New York Red Bulls in recent months, with Cameron Harper having done the same in early March.
