After months of speculation and rumours, it looks like Celtic are finally closing in on appointing a new manager. And that man appears to be Eddie Howe.

News broke out earlier today that the club were in advanced talks with the former Bournemouth manager and a move could end up taking place in the near future, if everything goes to plan.

Now, the rumours linking Howe to a Parkhead move have existed for quite a while. In fact, they started to surface as early as last year when the club were going through a rough patch of form which saw them win only 2 games in a stretch of 12.

The question has always been about whether Howe would come to Celtic if the opportunity was there to make a return to the Premier League. At this point of time, it certainly looks like so. As reported by the Daily Record, he has turned down offers from two Premier League clubs recently, with one of them believed to have been from Sheffield United.

Howe seems keen on a Celtic move

Nothing is done yet and it would be wrong to think that a move is over the line already. But the signs are certainly promising.

If the club can bring Howe to Parkhead, it would be seen as a brilliant move and has the potential to be as important as that of Brendan Rodgers a few years ago. We have to remember, the former Bournemouth man did take The Cherries from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League. That is an incredible achievement for any manager.

Howe has already shown that he is a Premier League quality manager and the fans should be delighted if he is in the dugout come next season. And it is great to see that he also appears to be keen on making the move to the Glasgow giants.
