Celtic have been expected to bring in a new manager for quite some time now. The rumours first started to surface after the club went through a poor run of form last year, when they won just 2 of 12 games.
Back then, Neil Lennon stayed on though and ultimately the Hoops ended up losing the title race to the Rangers with six games to spare. The Northern Irish manager stepped down from his role in late February, leaving John Kennedy in interim charge.
While it was believed that Kennedy could be handed the job on a permanent basis if he managed to turn things around, things appear to have changed since then.
It looks like the club are now in advanced talks with Eddie Howe and are believed to be closing in on an appointment according to Daily Record. The former Bournemouth manager has been linked with the Parkhead job for quite some time now and this would be seen as a major coup on the part of the club if they can pull it off.

Howe could be a brilliant manager at Celtic
Now, it is true that Howe has never won a top division trophy as a manager through the course of his career. But his achievements are certainly very impressive despite that.
Over two stints at Bournemouth, he managed to take them from the League Two relegation zone to the Premier League in a relatively short space of time. And after that, the team remained in the top division of English football for five seasons.
He has never managed at a club like Celtic though, where you are always expected to win. Thus, it will be interesting to see how he makes that adjustment.
That is something to consider for the future though. As of now, the fans should be delighted if the club can pull off a move for someone like Howe.
