Who will be the next Celtic manager? That is the biggest question surrounding Parkhead right now. Hopefully we will have the answer soon.

Neil Lennon stepped down from his role in the middle of the season, leaving John Kennedy in interim charge of the club. And although it is still possible that he could be handed the role on a permanent basis, at this point of time, it is not looking very likely.

A number of names have been linked with the club over the past few months. But two that have been doing the rounds very frequently over the past week or so are that of Eddie Howe and Roy Keane.

Derek McGregor spoke about the situation on The Celtic Huddle Podcast with Mark Wilson. And he believes that it could end up being one of those two. As reported by Celts Are Here, he said:

"“I think they will interview a couple of candidates and certainly, everything points to, at the moment, it’s looking to be a straight fight between Roy Keane and Eddie Howe”"

Could it be a straight race between Keane and Howe to be the next Celtic manager?

It is safe to say that both of them are very different from one another. Keane is a Manchester United legend, who has not had the same success as a manager that he did as a player. And he has not managed a club for over a decade now. His only two stints were at Sunderland and Ipswich Town.

On the other hand, Howe has proven himself as a manager over the years. He guided Bournemouth from League Two to the Premier League and then kept them there for five years. A very impressive achievement for any manager.

Ultimately, it is very possible that somebody else could end up getting the job. But for the time being, it certainly does look like Howe and Keane are two managers who are very much in the running. Now, all we can do is hope that whoever is the next Celtic manager, is able to guide the club back to the Premiership title.
