Celtic have been linked a wide number of managers over the past several months, with the club expected to undergo a massive overhaul in the summer.
That could see not only a new manager arrive at the club, but a number of new players and a director of football as well. On top of that, Peter Lawwell is set to retire after 17 years at Parkhead and will be replaced by Dominic McKay.
Out of all the managers who have been linked with the Hoops recently, perhaps the most interesting one is Jesse Marsch. The American has made his mark in European football over the last few years. After a spell as the assistant manager of RB Leipzig, he was made the manager of Red Bull Salzburg and has done a spectacular job there till now.
As a result, the Hoops appointing him would have been seen as a major coup. And Marsch himself described the links as ‘an honour’ while speaking with BBC. But it looks like the move is not on the cards after all. As reported by Sport Bild, Marsch has recently cancelled Celtic interest and won’t be heading to Borussia Monchengladbach either. And he has reportedly been chosen as the successor to Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, if the German manager ends up leaving.

It looks like Marsch won’t be heading to Celtic
There is no doubt that Marsch would have been a very interesting appointment for the Hoops, if they had managed to get it done. He is one of the most highly-rated managers in Europe right now.
But it does look like a move to Parkhead is off the table. As a result, the club should turn their focus towards other candidates for the job.
Names like Eddie Howe, Chris Wilder, Frank Lampard, Enzo Maresca, Roy Keane and many others have been linked with the role and it will be interesting to see who ends up getting appointed. Of course, it is worth mentioning that John Kennedy being handed the job on a permanent basis is still a possibility despite looking unlikely at this point of time.
