Celtic have been linked with a number of managers over the past few months. But Eddie Howe is probably the one with whom they have been linked the most and for the longest period of time.

Rumours linking the club with Howe started to surface as early as last year, when the Hoops were in the midst of a terrible run of form under Neil Lennon, which saw them win just two in a stretch of twelve games.

No change was made then and Lennon stayed on as the manager of the club. It was last month that he ultimately stepped down from his role but by that point of time, the league was virtually over already.

At the moment, John Kennedy is serving as the interim manager of the team although the Hoops are expected to bring in a new manager in the summer. And Howe is certainly someone who a number of fans would love to see at the club.

Howe could be a brilliant appointment for Celtic

Howe did a brilliant job during his time at Bournemouth. He guided them from League Two to the Premier League in a short span of time and kept them in the top division for five seasons. That is an impressive feat for any manager.

Naturally, it won’t be easy for Celtic to bring Howe to Parkhead, as there is expected to be interest from elsewhere for a manager of his quality and reputation. He has been linked with Newcastle United in the recent past. And as reported by Chronicle Live, the former Bournemouth manager would be open to it if The Magpies did make a change.

Right now, Steve Bruce is the manager of Newcastle United, who sit at 17th in the Premier League table, two points above the relegation zone and with a game in hand.
